Those in the mood for a bite-sized sci-fi horror experience should check out Thunderfox Studio’s Moonbase Lambda, which is out now on Steam with a 10% launch discount available until March 20. Moonbase Lambda is a roguelike horror adventure that throws players into a nightmarish game of hide-and-seek on the moon, where no two runs are ever the same.
What was once a haven on the moon’s surface, the base is now a labyrinth of flickering lights, groaning metal, and half-seen horrors. Players awaken to find themselves being hunted by something that’s keen on playing a deadly game of tag. Armed with whatever isn’t bolted down and a dwindling oxygen supply, you must find a way out before becoming the station’s next missing person report.
Along with featuring a unique graphical style reminiscent of Panstasz’s World of Horror, Moonbase Lambda uses procedural generation to create a unique experience for players daring to venture into the dimly-lit corridors. The limited visibility and environmental storytelling aims to put you in the center of the fear. Every sound, every flicker of light, becomes a potential threat.
There are also multiple escape routes available to players, though some slightly less deadly than others. Of course, it’s not just about finding your way out—it’s about staying alive long enough to escape. You’ll need to find your hiding spots in order to avoid just whatever it is that’s stalking you as you try to make your way out of the base.
