The official website for the upcoming live-action movie adaptation of Kowloon Generic Romance , a mystery romance manga series by Jun Mayuzuki ( After the Rain ), released a teaser trailer and visual today. The site also confirmed that the movie is set to open in Japan in August 2025. Kowloon Generic Romance Live-Action Movie Teaser Trailer The teaser visual shows the movie's two main characters, Reiko Kujirai played by Riho Yoshioka (Hitomi Saito in Anime Supremacy! ) and Hajime Kudou by Koshi Mizukami (Akira Sakuma in Till We Meet Again on the Lily Hill ), standing on a rooftop. The taglines read: "Love reveals the secrets—." and "A mystery love romance where the past and present intersect." The other cast members include Shuntaro Yanagi, Minami Umezawa (Nogizaka46), Figaro Tseng, Kotone Hanase, and Ryo Ryusei. The film was shot almost entirely on locations in Taiwan, in close proximity to the streets of Kowloon. The synopsis on the site reads (translated): The feeling of nostalgia is surely the same as love. Reiko Kujirai (Riho Yoshioka), who works at a real estate agency in the nostalgic city of Kowloon Fortress, is in love with her senior employee Hajime Kudo (Koshi Mizukami). Kudou knows the city of Kowloon well and takes Reiko out to his favorite places, but their distance remains unbridgeable. Even so, Reiko has made important friends such as Yaomay (Minami Umezawa), who runs a shoe shop in Kowloon, and Xiaohei (Kotone Hanase), who works part-time at a variety of stores, and she is content with her daily life in Kowloon. One day, however, Tao Gwen (Shuntaro Yanagi), a clerk at the Goldfish Tea House where she and Kudou stop by, mistakes her for Kudou's girlfriend. Additionally, Reiko happened to find a photo of Kudou, who was together with his girlfriend who looked just like her. A past memory she cannot recall, the identity of her other self, and a huge mystery hidden in the city of Kowloon. As the past and present intersect, love reveals the secrets—. Mayuzuki's original Kowloon Generic Romance manga has been serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump since November 2019, releasing ten tankoboon volumes to date. The manga's TV anime adaptation is also set to premiere in Japan on April 5, 2025, and Crunchyroll will stream the anime as it airs for members in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS.
