Black Salt Games’ DREDGE will finally be getting some company, as developer Dream Dock has announced their own Lovecraftian fishing game in DREADMOOR. Coming to PC via Steam, DREADMOOR combines fishing and exploration in a post-nuclear apocalypse world, while also throwing in battles with monsters, both on water and land.
Players take the helm of a fishing trawler as they navigate the Submerged Land, a world full of submerged islands and ruins of a forgotten civilization. Much like DREDGE, you’ll be catching fish and selling your yield, allowing you to upgrade your ship. You’ll also be building equipment and managing your inventory. However, you must also be ready to fight back against mutated creatures, beware of radiation, as well as those who are after more than just your catch…
Throughout your journey in DREADMOOR, you’ll encounter more than 100 species of dangerous and rare prey. Search for the best fishing spots, experiment with baits, compete with nature to get your catch. Sort your yield, and remember to keep an eye on the hold, as your catch has a penchant for eating each other. The more dangerous the catch, the higher price is given by the traders.
As well, simple scrap metal or old blueprints found in abandoned buildings, caves and shipwrecks are also invaluable items for trades. You can also use the things you collect to make baits, harpoons, rare medicines, and more.
