As you may recall, the Poltergeist house in Simi Valley, California – as in, the house that served as the filming location for Tobe Hooper’s horror classic – went up for grabs last year, and the home’s new owner has invited Zak Bagans and the “Ghost Adventures” crew inside.
The single family residence was built in 1979, just a couple years before the Poltergeist crew came into town, and it’s located on 4267 Roxbury Street in Simi Valley, California.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 2,373 square foot home sold last year for $1.2 million, with the historic horror property including a pool house and a massive in-ground pool.
The “Ghost Adventures” team steps foot inside the iconic home for the season premiere of the popular series on Discovery Channel tonight – Wednesday, April 16 – at 10pm ET.
This very special two-hour season premiere marks the very first time the Poltergeist house has been investigated, with Bagans and his team exploring the infamous “Poltergeist Curse.”
“It was mind-blowing,” Bagans tells PEOPLE. “To be in the house that was in the movie, but also to know that there is actual paranormal events occurring there, it just blindsided me.”
He adds, “I wanted to see whether or not there was some type of inception for this curse, what would be the beginning of it. Why were some of the cast and crew complaining about paranormal occurrences while filming? Where did this originate from? And so much of the film was filmed at the house, I wanted to see if something there could be responsible.”
Check out some clips below and watch along as Zak Bagans and his “Ghost Adventures” team investigate the Poltergeist movie house on Discovery Channel tonight at 10pm ET.
